What is Real Time Communication? (RTC)

RTC technology is the point of convergence for the key communication systems of Telephony, Videoconferencing, Instant Messaging and Data Collaboration.  Real time means free form interactive communication.  Whereas structured communication such as presentations, papers and e-mail messages represent a “slice of life” rendition of a particular message – RTC is fueled by the input of multiple participants, at the time of conception.  Live meetings, brainstorming and learning groups are examples of the purpose RTC serve – as very distinct from presentations or other pre-meditated communication.

RTC technology focuses on the part of human interaction that ordinarily only can be conducted in person – by reducing the need for people to travel in order to meet in person, phenomenal cost savings and productivity gains can be realized.  As a learning environment, RTC technology constitutes the most efficient classroom ever conceived – a classroom in which everyone participating automatically can retain class notes, presentations – even entire class sessions in full motion video and sound.
